Restore your youthfully sculpted look for longer with Sculptra®

Sculptra® sets itself apart from other soft tissue fillers. Due to its unique formulation, this injectable treatment is also known as a “collagen stimulator.” It can stimulate collagen production for fresher, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. The team at Precision Skin Institute is excited to provide this long-lasting alternative to other injectables and dermal fillers, and we are pleased to introduce you to Sculptra® by way of some of the most frequently asked questions that we get from our patients in the Davie, Florida area.

How is Sculptra® formulated?

Many other fillers are made from hyaluronic acid. When bonded with water, HA-based fillers produce a gel-like substance that can be injected into shallow or creased areas for a plumping and smoothing effect. Sculptra is different. This dermal filler is made from poly-L-lactic acid. It has been used as a facial injectable since 1999. These types of microparticles have also been safely used in several other medical applications, ranging from dissolvable stitches and plates to pins and screws.

Like HA, PLLA is biocompatible, which means it does not harm existing tissues. Unlike some “traditional” fillers, however, Sculptra triggers collagen remodeling to replenish this beneficial protein that contributes to the skin’s plumpness. Due to this feature, the effects from Sculptra® only get better with time as more collagen is made, and the results from treatment last a long time.

What areas can Sculptra® treat?

Sculptra® may be injected into shallow and deep lines and wrinkles alike. These “treatable” areas include the wrinkles around the mouth and nose (nasolabial folds), the lines that are at the corners of the mouth that extend downward to the chin (marionette lines), and fine lines and wrinkles in the chin, cheek, and jawline areas.

What does treatment feel like?

Like other injectable treatments available at PSI, we can discuss options to keep you comfortable. These include topical anesthetic or lidocaine. In general, our precise injections are tolerated well by most patients. We use a very thin needle to target lax, wrinkled, and depressed parts of the face. You may feel a slight pressure or pinch, but that’s it! Also, since the process is not invasive and is highly targeted by our skilled professionals, there is no downtime with Sculptra®, and the effects are temporary and limited to the injection site. Here again, by partnering with a qualified and experienced professional, risks like pain, swelling, and bruising are minimized.

When can I see the full results?

On average, the makers of Sculptra® report that 75% of patients noticed a dramatic improvement in the appearance of their lines, wrinkles, and other aesthetic concerns after three treatment sessions spanning a few months, and, notably, those results were sustained two years later! While you notice improvements immediately following treatment, as collagen is replaced over time and the skin is reinforced, fullness and smoothness are gradually and further enhanced. For this reason, “collagen stimulators” are known to be exceptionally long-lasting, though no such injectable is a permanent solution to wrinkles and laxity.

Precision Skin Institute will work with you to maximize your results and ensure that they look like “you”—only more refreshed and rejuvenated than you have looked in years. Call (954) 998-0345 with more questions and to schedule a consultation at our office in Davie, FL.
